Theresa D’Aubuisson, who has lived in New York for six years, has a new home.
D’AUBUISSON’S NEW HOME In a few weeks, D’Abuisson will open her first family shop in the heart of Manhattan, an intimate space in a corner of the Bronx.
Her son, Max, 18, will spend the weekend with her and the D’Asunsons have already signed on the first full-time employee.DAMMIT, YOU MOTHER OF MOMS.
D’ABUISSS new business is a way for her to feel connected to her children.
She and Max will spend weekends at the shop with their dad.
It’s a family business.
DUBUISE YOUR DAY, SAYS THE MANAGER.
You’ll be happy for him and his family, says D’Bucisson, who moved to New York from Paris in the summer of 2014.
“It’s not just for us,” she says.
“It’s for my son and his brothers, for my grandkids.”
D’Ebbson says the D’sunsons and their family are “really good” about staying connected to their customers, and the shop’s owner, Daniel Levenson, is “really open to that.”
D’Abuser, a native of France who has been married for nearly three years, says she plans to use the money to pay off her mortgage, purchase an apartment and help her husband get a new job.
“My son and I have a little business that makes a lot of money,” she said.
“So we’re not really worried about money.
I’m not worried about whether the business is going to survive or not.”
The D’soosons have not yet secured a loan, but are planning to buy a home.
They’re not the only family on the block that’s enjoying a bit of a life change.
“I’m not a fan of being single,” says the eldest of five kids.
“My husband works for a small company and he’s in his mid-30s.
It might take a while for me to find someone else to live with.”
Dabuisson’s son is also not a traditional stay-at-home mom.
The two had a baby in April, and she has a 2-year-old son named James.
DABUISSON SAYS HE IS ON THE LOOK OUT FOR SOMEONE ELSE, TO START UP HIS BUSINESS.
HE’S NOT IN HIS 30S, BUT HE’LL BE WATCHING HIM.
And it’s hard to leave the kids alone at home.
“We just want to be able to be a family again,” she quips.
“That’s what our life is about.”
